Magento 2, one of the leading platforms in the e-commerce space, offers a variety of features to enhance the user experience. One such feature is the ability to send emails using the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP). SMTP ensures reliable delivery of transactional emails such as order confirmations, password resets, and marketing communications.

But to harness its full potential, you must correctly configure SMTP within Magento 2. In this blog post, we’ll walk you through the step-by-step process to get your Magento 2 store set up with SMTP, ensuring your emails reach their intended recipients without a hitch.

Step 1: Set up an email account for your website domain

To begin with, in order to set up the SMTP email for Magento 2, it’s compulsory to have a valid email address for the store domain. You can easily create an email address by following the instructions of either the email hosting provider or the server administrator.

Step 2: Set up email sending system for your stores

Firstly, open your admin panel, navigate to STORES and select Configuration (under Settings).

Fourthly, you have to enter the Sender Email – the email address that you have created on the first step of the process. Finally, save the config. It’s worth noting that you can add more contacts for the Sales Representative, Customer Support, Custom Email 1, and Custom Email 2 by repeating the above steps.

Step 3: Set up the sender and template for sales emails

In this step, you must expand the SALES tab and choose the Sales Emails part. After that, expand the Order section.

Further setup related to email copy is optional. Remember to save your settings.
